LMR36015S: 36V output unstable

I'm trying to simulate a design with 48V input and 36V output for LMR16020 using WEBENCH, but the maximum output voltage the tool allows is 28V. Even at 28V output, the tool indicates the design is not allowed (unstable). What parameter is unstable at 28V output?

Hello John,

I tried this with the LMR36015A and was also unable to have WEBENCH generate a design, although it didn't tell me that the design was unstable. WEBENCH might not be configured for your particular condition. Have you tried simulating this with the PSPICE model available on the LMR36015 product folder page? LMR36015 and LMR36015S are essentially the same, but with different junction temperature limits.

Hi John,

Apologies as it took us some time to look into this issue. We have fixed this issue on WEBENCH and we are able create design for LMR36015SB on WEBENCH for Vin=48V,Vout=28V, Iout=1.5A input conditions. This change will be available on ti.com by next WEBENCH release(tentatively by mid of March 2022).
