UCD9222: POWER MANAGAMENT-PWM CONTROLLER RELATED QUERY

Part Number: UCD9222
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD7242, UCD74106

Hi,

We are using UCD9222 PWM controller in our design for Power control  and monitoring DSP-C6678 Core voltages.

In our design, we have followed as per recommendations in datasheet. We are using UCD9222 with UCD7242 and UCD74106 for DSP Core power CVDD and CVDD1.

We are facing issue in DSP core voltage Power on and sequencing. UCD9222 EN signals for both regulators are driven high but still the PWM waveform is not properly driven from controller to regulator.

When we try to probe at PWM point, No High to Low fluctuations are found. We only got 1.69 Voltage level continuous high signal. So that UCD7242 High side Mosfet and Low side Mosfet inside are not providing output voltage at the switcher end. Hence, we couldn't power up Core voltages for C6678.

We have the following doubts. Please clarify us

  • What could be the possible reason that the DPWM engine is not syncing High to low pulse PWM waveform.
  • Is there any XML / or HEX files for programming PWM parameters in UCD9222 using PMBUS. If yes, could you please kindly share to us.
  • Does VID control Interface for UCD compulsory driven by two devices. What if we kept secondary port for VID at default state- High(Pulled up to 3V3). Could it possibly affects the feedback from Load(DSP). Does the Power output gets affected?

Kindly do the needful.

Thanks,
