LM66100: Disabling the Ideal Diode

Hi Team,
I am using LM66100 in one of my projects.
In the datasheet of LM66100, it says we can use two of such chips to OR the input voltages and let only one of the input with higher potential to the output.
How it can be implemented?.
The only chance I see is to connect the ~CE pin of one of the LM66100 to the VIN of the other diode and vice versa. If this needs to be working, the VIN pin should be actively pulled down to 0V.
Is my understanding is correct?.
Also, if I need to disable the ideal diode, the only way is to pull the CE pin above VIN with a minimum of 80mV, what should I do if Vin is the only power source in my system?

Hello Shibin,

If you are only using one power source there is no need to use LM66100 in an ORing setup. If you're going to use LM66100 standalone and you need RCB then connect CE pin to Vout, otherwise ground it. I would suggest going with a load switch if you want on & off control of the device. If you are using two power sources in your design and you want to choose the highest available source then you can take a look at the application in section 9.2.1 of the datasheet.

Thank you for your reply.
I have two power supplies in my design, the two are battery so if one battery is draining to a voltage below the voltage of the second battery will start to discharge, and if this battery voltage drops then the system will switch to the first one. What actually happens is the load will begin to switch between the two sources.

Hello Shibin,

If you have the potential for a case where both batteries are discharged to the same voltage this device will not work and you will need to swap to using a power mux such as TPS2116 and many others.

Thank you for your reply.
TPS2116 seems like a good option but no stock is available on Digikey or mouser.
so we can go for TPS2115APWR or TPS2113APWR.
But I cannot find the difference between these two.
The only thing I can find is

But we can manually switch the TPS2113A by changing the voltage at the VSNS pin. just like what we can do with the D0 and D1 pins of the TPS2115APWR. Is my understanding correct?.
I hope the 8-TSSOP package of TPS2115APWR can deliver a maximum of up to 2 A of current continuously.

Hello Shibin,

Your understanding is correct; however, if you're going to use the device for manual switching then it would be much easier to use the TPS2115A.
