G_CLK Configuration of TLC5957

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC5957

Hi,

In our Design, we are using all 16 channels in TLC5957. I have some doubts regarding this.

1. So while updating GS latch with 768 bit values using S_CLK, How G_CLK will vary?

2. How to vary the frequency of the blinking?

3. updating FC register is one time only, or every time after updating GS latch I need to configure FC register?

4. Is there any relation b/w GCLK and SCLK?

5. When we need to use Poker mode?

Thanks & Regards,

Shreya Mukherjee

  • Hi Shreya

    1. does the G_CLK mean GCLK input?
    2. change the data of OUTx period can achieve blinking function and change the period can vary the frequency.
    3. if you there is no change in FC register, you don't need to configure FC register after each GS latch
    4. SCLK is used for serial data transmission and GCLK is used for GS counter. make sure that the data has completed transmission before display.
    5. in high multiplexing applications, if you want to achieve high visual refresh rate it's a good choice to use poker mode.

  • Hi Monet,

    Thank you for your reply.

G_CLK means , yes, GCLK input. if I am not using poker mode, then what will be the GCLK frequency? From my understanding in poker mode we can configure GCLK according to the number of WRTGS and LATGS we are giving. but in case of traditional mode, will be the configuration like this, WRTGS = 15 and LATGS = 1 and GSCLK =  65536 ? If not, please guide me for selecting GSCLK.

Does the GS counter counting w.r.t GCLK always or after updating of 1st GS data latch w.r.t. 768 SCLK, it starts counting?

    Regards

    Shreya

  • Hi Shreya,

    Q1: Yes.

Q2: it is separate for display and data transmission.
