LM63625-Q1: Operate the chip when Cin = 0

Part Number: LM63625-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM61460

Hi Team,

We are using the chip "LM63625-Q1". And we need to do below test item from my end customer.

Test item is input Vin from 0V-14V, Iload = 0A and we don't place any input cap on chip input side. We found that the LM63625-Q1 was damaged when we power up. Damage behavior : internal H/S MOSFET short, Vin = Vout.

We can expect the chip operate abnormally, but I have no idea why IC was damaged at that time because our Iload = 0A which means L(di/dt) in power cable(30cm) impact is small.

Can you help explain why chip was damaged at this time?

Also, we measured the LM61460 with same condition, but LM61460 wasn't damaged.

Can you let me know which parameter may judge the chip will be damaged or not damaged?

Regards,

Roy
