LM5170EVM-BIDIR: Dynamic Mode Change Using DIR Pin on J17

Part Number: LM5170EVM-BIDIR
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5170

Hi,

I'm trying to dynamically change the mode of the EVM from Boost to Buck mode. However, I'm unable to do so. My test setup is as follows:

1. Initially the EVM operates in Boost mode. (DC power Supply connected to LV port and set point is 12 V)

2. After a certain time elapses, a 5 Ohm resistor is connected across the LV port and a constant current source is connected across the HV port using relays. Once this sequence is complete, the DIR command is changed from low (0V) to high (3.3V) using an MSP C2000 Lauchpad. Then a current set point of 2A is passed to the EVM to push out 2A from the LV port.

3. Once the above sequence is complete, the 12V DC source on the LV port is turned off.

The issue is that after the above sequence of events is completed, the converter is just sitting idle and is not taking in any current through HV port nor is it giving out any current from the LV port. I have tested both boost and buck mode independently using ISETD control and the EVM works well in those cases.

Is there some setting I'm not configuring properly that may be stalling the EVM? I've read through the datasheet and the user guide and can't find my mistake. Any help would be greatly appreciated here.

Sincerely,
Kartavya Agarwal.
