BQ78350-R1: Is BQ78350DBTR-R1 not recommended for new design?

Part Number: BQ78350-R1

Dear Sir or Madam,

We have an existing project using BQ7693000DBT+BQ78350DBTR-R1, but currently we found that BQ78350DBTR-R1 is marked as "Not Recommended for New Designs". Is it true? If it is, which device is recommended to replace BQ78350DBTR-R1, and what's the different? Please advise.

Hi Joy,

The BQ78350-R1A is the recommended device. It is identical to the BQ78350-R1, but it comes loaded with the latest version of the firmware. They are functionally the same - the only difference is that the robustness of the Shutdown routine is improved to prevent any accidental writing to flash while the device is powering off.
