BQ76942: Random Cell Connection Support question

Part Number: BQ76942

My customer has posted question regarding What I want to check is that the 10-cell cell holder has exposed the 10-cell B+ (most significant potential) and the 1-cell B- (least significant potential), which is not controlled first when it is integrated into the populated PCB. (B + is AFE BAT and VC10, B- is AFE VSS and VC0) Connect B+, B- and the cell potentials to VC1 through VC9 after connecting B+, B-

Customer understand well Datasheet Page#60 16.3 Random Cell Connection Support comment.

use 1pcs , No stack
Adopt PCB first then connecting battery between PCB + BQ76942 and Battery cells.

Best Regards,
Hironori Yoshimura

  • Hi Yoshimura-san,

The B+ and B- can be connected first. The abs max voltage for most of the VCn pins is 85V, so it should not be a problem. VC0 has a smaller abs max, so it must be connected on the board to VSS through a resistor first.

    Best regards,
