TPS7A47: Difference between TL1963A and TPS7A45

Part Number: TPS7A47

Hi Team,

I find the most parameters of TL1963ADCQR and TPS7A4501DCQR are the same although they are different series of TL and TPS.
What's the difference between them? Why do so similar two chips belong to different series?

Beat Regards,
Tom Liu

  • Hi Tom,

The TPS part has some tigher tolerances on a few parameters related to the part. Vout tolerances on light loads, some smaller adjust pin current, Better PSRR, and better output voltage noise. It also has smaller reverse pin current ratings.

The TL part was made to be a direct competitor to the LT1963A. The naming is identical and is meant to be a direct P2P replacement for the part. The TPS developed part was one where we could force better performance out of it on similar specs, and it would be considered an upgraded part. The naming was most likely to match exactly the competitor part for the TL, and when we were making our own part with better specs, we then named it in our typical style, falling into the TPS family of LDO's that we produce.

    Regards,
