LM5088: Mosfet Alternate part no selection

Part Number: LM5088
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD19502Q5B, CSD18532KCS, CSD18542KCS

Hi ,

I am in the design stage of DC-DC 18VDC/7A Board with the use of LM5088 IC.  As per the Reference circuit provided by TI, the suggested Mosfet M1 part No. is CSD19502Q5B. But i want to select the thurusole mosfet part to simplify my design & assembly works.

In my previous design similar way i have used the  P/N: CSD18532KCS mosfet.

Can i used the same P/N:CSD18532KCS for the current design instead of P/N:CSD19502Q5B. Pls. do check and confirm the same or suggest the alternate part with T0-220 Package.

  • Hello Maha,

Thanks for your interest in TI FETs. Can you please provide more details: input & output voltage, switching frequency and gate drive voltage for your design. The CSD19502Q5B is 80V, 4.1mΩ max @ VGS = 10V in 5x6mm SON package. The CSD18532KCS is 60V, 4.2mΩ max @ VGS = 10V in TO220 and has slightly lower gate charge. Please keep in mind, the thru-hole package has higher parasitic inductance which may result in higher switch node ringing. I'd recommend a R-C snubber at the switch node and a boot resistor in series with the boot capacitor for ringing reduction if necessary. Another option is the CSD18542KCS, 60V, 4mΩ max @ VGS = 10V in TO220 with higher reverse recovery charge. If you need higher or lower voltage based on your input, we also have 40V, 80V and 100V FETs in TO220. All of our 80V and 100V FETs require minimum gate drive voltage, VGS >= 6V. Most of our 40V & 60V FETs are rated at VGS = 4.5V.
