BQ24040: Question about the input SPEC

Hi,

         Customer want to know what exactly the input SPEC is? please take a look at below capture. 

Why TI uses two different range for Vin? what's the difference? thanks.

    Hello

    The BQ24040 has OVP protection and will shutdown output when voltage is above 6.45V, but will not be damaged up to 28V.  The under voltage lock out is 3.5V and device will start and continue to operate but probably not supply current to battery, Vin less than battery.  So between 3.5V and 28V the device is on but may not be charging.  

    Between 4.45V and 6.45V the device is operating and charging battery.
