TLV767: Dropout voltage TLV76733

Part Number: TLV767

Greetings,

For the TLV76733, how do you determine the dropout voltage for Vin=3.65, and Iout=0.725A? This was not found on the datasheet.

Thanks,

-Christian Greeff

  • Hi Christian,

Dropout is measured when Vout droops by a certain value.  Common values in datasheets include 100mV from nominal steady state performance, or a 5% drop.  In this case the datasheet specifies a 5% drop from steady state performance. The "Vin" in the equation is a typo and will be corrected during the next iteration of the datasheet.

Take Vout while loaded to 0.725A, and with plenty of voltage on Vin record the value of Vout.  Then lower Vin until Vout drops by 5%.  Take Vin - Vout and you will have your dropout at 0.725A load.  Due to the similar values in load current, it should be pretty close to this plot in the datasheet:

    Thanks,

    Stephen
