BQ25303J: TEMPERATURE HITTING 80DEG

Part Number: BQ25303J

Hi Guys,

I'm currently using BQ25303J IC for my upcoming project and it has been seen that the device heats up to 80deg when it is drawing 2A of current.

Is it okay to go ahead or do you recommend any changes in the PCB layout or any extra silicon thermals for the IC ??

Regards,

Sai

  • Hi Sai,

4 layer board will help dissipate more heat, along with more heat sinking vias from top layer to inner ground layer. Make sure to have vias connected under the IC package for efficient heat sinking. From IC performance there is no issue, as the TREG spec is higher than 80C.
