TPS65218D0: Reprogramming a TPS6521835 to TPS65218D0

Due to parts shortages on our Sitara platform, TI has offered the purchase of TPS6521835 and suggested to reprogram them as TPS65218D0. We use the PB line in our system for a manual reset with 8 second duration - this allows a customer to power cycle the system.

Is there any way to power cycle the system without resetting the register settings?

Also, to confirm, when a TPS6521835 is RESET, will the default values be returned to the TPS6521835 settings or to the TPS65218D0 settings. (I think I know the answer, but wanted to double check)

And a follow on question... most, but not all, registers are R/W. Are there some settings in the TPS6521835 that cannot be changed to TPS65218D0 values/functions? Does TI have any guidance or warnings as we embark down this river.

    Thanks for reaching out! If the TPS65218x PMIC is reset, it will power cycle and temporarily shut down the output rails with the exception of DCDC5 and DCDC6 which could stay ON because they are FSEAL dependent. In addition, all register settings will go back to the default values. The default values would be the last register settings that were saved into the EEPROM. Please note all register bits with "E2" under the Type column in the register tables have EEPROM programmable default settings. This means that if you change any "E2" bit and save the new settings into the EEPROM following the instructions in the datasheet, then the new value will become the default and will be the same even after power cycle.
