ATL432LI: ATL431LI Ika

Part Number: ATL432LI
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL432, TL432LI, , ATL431LI

Hi,
Because the TL432 and TL432LI are out of stock, and ATL432LI we has stock,
so I want to use ATL432LI to replace the LA431OCRPA, and the datasheet as the following link, but the customer consider that the Ika is too low (15mA max),
http://www.liteon-semi.com/upfiles/tecfile01445239981.pdf

And you can see the schematic with the calculate was 19mA ((Vo-0.7)/R306=(30-0.7)/1.5K=19.53 mA). Is that ok for used the ATL432LI?
Or are there other calculation methods that can convince the customer? thanks.

Best regards
Rock

  • Hi Rock,

The calculation is almost correct but needs modification.  The ATL432LI needs equal or greater than 2.5V at the cathode for proper operation.  Therefore, the actual calculation should be:

    (30V - 2.5V) / 1.5Kohms = 18.33mA.

Even with the new calculated cathode current of 18.33mA, it is still too high for the ATL431LI.  My suggestion is to have the customer increase the resistance so the IKA is around 15mA.
