LM4040-N: LM4040-N vs. LM4040

Part Number: LM4040-N
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4040

what are the difference between both?

  • Hi Brian,

The "-N" version signifies that the part was from National Semiconductor.  Before TI purchased National Semi both companies had LM4040 devices.  After the merger, TI needed to differentiate the two devices so TI added "-N" to LM4040 to let National Semi customers know the difference. Both parts have very similar specs but there are some differences in the options that are offered.  One major difference is that the LM4040-N is automotive qualified where as the LM4040 from TI is not.  I hope this helps.
