TPS22946: Ultra Librarian Footprint vs. Datasheet Footprint

Part Number: TPS22946

Hello,

I have a question about the footprint for the TPS22946 load switch presented in the datasheet versus the one available in the Ultra Librarian site.

In the datasheet of the TPS22946, the recommended pad diameter is 0.225 mm, but in the Ultra Librarian footprint it is 0.305mm.

What pad size should be used and would you need to add solder mask expansion?

Or is the footprint in Ultra Librarian ok to be used as-is?

Thanks!

  • Hi Tony,

Could you please elaborate on how you got the pad diameter to be 0.305mm in ultra librarian.

I used the Altium model to measure the distance between the center of the metal leads and created this diagram:

Please let me know if I am missing something.

    Best Regards,

    Elizabeth

  • Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for the diagram.  I am asking on behalf of a customer (apologies for not stating that up front), so I am unsure how they measured the pad diameter to be .305mm.  Based on your diagram above, they may have mistakenly measured from the solder mask opening and not the pad itself.

I'll get back to them and let you know if there are further questions.

    Thanks!
