UCC27201: UCC27201 & UCC27201-Q1 different ESD ratings

Hi Support team

may I know why the ESD rating are different between UCC27201 & UCC27201-Q1

questions behind is due to shortage issue, my customer would like to use Q grade to instead of non-Q grade

But Q grade HBM rating is half than non-Q grade,

any side effect?

UCC27201

HBM +/- 2000

CDM +/-1000

UCC27201-Q1

HBM +/- 1000

CDM +/-1500

Hi Red,

Thank you for your question. Could you please point me to the document where you found this discrepancy? I Checked the datasheet for both devices and the ESD ratings are the same for both.

The first link that you shared is not the UCC27201-Q1 device. The link you provided is for the UCC27201A-Q1.

the ESD rating are different

Hi Red,

The difference in ESD rating is related to the time of release. The original ESD testing for the UCC27201A and UCC27201A-Q1 were performed in different years and the ESD testing standards differed slightly at these times. The Q1 device was released second and thus underwent slightly different ESD testing. So, this does not reflect any differences in the die/functionality. Both devices use the same die but were tested at different times, using slightly different standards for ESD.

Thanks for response.

I have the same question too. My customer would like to transfer from UCC27201A to UCC27201A-Q1. But the ESD rating are different.

Could you help me to answer two questions below here ?

1. Why UCC27201A-Q1 HBM is worst than UCC27201A ? In my opinion, Q1 ESD testing is more rigorous than non-Q.

2. UCC27201A-Q1 HBM is worst than UCC27201A. If we transfer from UCC27201A to UCC27201A-Q1. If there any side effect for PSU ?

Hi Peter,

You are welcome! Our team confirmed that both parts use the same die and that the differences in ESD levels are related to testing differences and do not affect the performance of the device, therefore there should not be any performance difference on the customer’s application if they switch to the Q1 version.
