TPS61178: Webench current limit setting

Part Number: TPS61178

Hi Team,

The customer is going to use Webench for 9.1V/3A output. However, the range of current limit value on Webench is much higher than the customer design.

As the output maximum current is 3A, the current limit will be suitable for 3.6A~4A. May I know how to change the current limit of Webench setting to 3.6A? Thank you.

Best regards,

Mike

  • Hi Mike,

Thank you for posting. Our experts of this device is currently on National Holidays and they may be able to comment after Oct 7th. I read the datasheet and equation (1) should be followed to select the appropriate RILIMT.  Note that you need to calculate the inductor peak current under the min input voltage, and plug that into equation (1) to get the programming resistor value.

If you also asked this:  once you decide a resistor value, click RLIMIT in webench and in the pop menu (see below a snapshot) and select  Choose Alternative to change the values.  The Webench should automatically update the design.

    Thanks,
