BQ40Z60: Update Status 0xA

Part Number: BQ40Z60

Hi,

during several learning cycles i got the value 0xA in the Update Status (Adr 0x4310) after the learning cycle.

It happens when i turn of gauging (CMD 0x21). If i send the gauging CMD again the Update Status switches back to 0xe.

What does this value mean? Was the learning cycle successful? Do i have to send some special CMD's?

Best regards,

Patrick

  • Hello Patrick,

The application note SLUA903 is the best reference for the learning cycle procedure, you should only need to enable the impedance track algorithm once before cycling the battery, you shouldn't need to cycle it on and off. The update status should be 0x06 then update to 0x0E when you get a field Qmax update.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt,

thanks for the informations. I already follow the orders of SLUA903.

So you recommend to let the gauging is enabled in the final product (not necessary to send the CMD 0x21) at the end of a learning cycle?

    Did i get this right?

    Best regards

    Patrick

  • Hello Patrick,

Yes it is okay to leave the algorithm enabled, as long as when you upload the SREC or flash stream file the batteries are connected to the gauge.

    Sincerely,
