TPS61252: Does TPS61252 have any protection circuit of the output over voltage?

Part Number: TPS61252

Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using TPS61252 for their new products.

They are worry about the case of FB terminal short to GND or open.

They have a few questions about the device as the follows.

Could you please give me your reply?

Q1. What happen on TPS61252 when the device FB terminal is shorted to GND or open?

Q2 Does TPS61252 have any protection circuit of the output over voltage?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Kazuya.

  • Hello Kazuya,

Q1: When the FB terminal is shorted to GND, the device will operate at maximum duty cycle and most probable get damaged due to overvoltage on VOUT pin.

When the FB terminal is open and not connected to VOUT, most probable the same will happen.

Q2: The device is only protected against overvoltage as long as the feedback pin is connected properly to the output voltage.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
