It is normal to have high current ripple at light load. The BQ25700A operates in pulse frequency modulation (PFM) for best efficiency. It may skip a few pulses at light load. Moreover, the charger fully utilizes the 4 switches in the buck-boost converter to achieve a higher efficiency. Due to the PFM operation, the input current and battery current may experience elevated current ripple. This is normal. It is not an indicator of stability issue. When charge current or system current increases, the charger will transition from PFM to Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). In PWM operation, the current ripple is reduced.
