BQ25570: BQ25570 charge 3V Battery

Part Number: BQ25570

Dear Sir/Ms.

This is an extension of the article.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1029615/bq25570-assist-design-tool?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=bq25570#

My customer got BQ25570EVM.
His input source is this solar panel. His battery is a 3 volt rechargeable battery. I asked the customer to send me the battery specification, which is really 3V.

Since I have not touched this aspect of the charging IC, can you guide us how to set the BQ25570EVM. Jumpers setting, resistor setting, etc...

Best Regards,

kami Huang

  • Hi Kami,

EVM resistors R1 and R2 need to be changed to set VBAT_OV to 3.0V.  You can use the spreadsheet at https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sluc484 to help with that. Jumper J1 needs to be removed and jumper J4 needs to connected to 80% to set MPPT to 80% of the panels open circuit voltage. If the buck converter is not needed then I recommend tying VOUT_EN to GND using JP3.

This is a boost only converter so the solar panel VOC*80% must be < 3.0V.

    Regards,

    Jeff
