LM5176-Q1: WEBENCH suggest different value of Df, Dboot1 ad Dboot2 diode

Part Number: LM5176-Q1

When i set input

Input:
DC 21 V - 50 V
Output:
20 V at 12 A
Temp:
30 °C
WEBENCH suggest that the design:
Df :SB10150TA 150V 10A
Dboot1:SBRD10200TR 200V 10A
Dboot2:XBS053V15R-G
Why need that large current?
Can all replace by Nexperia PMEG6010CEGWX?
Thank You
  • Hello Minki,

The available diode library in Webench is limited. There are only few diodes with a high voltage rating. PMEG6010CEGWX is ok for Dbootx.

For Df, the current needed to drive the MOSFETs needs to be taken into account as this is coming from the input through this diode. I would use a diode with a bigger package for power dissipation reasons as long as you are not connecting VOUT to BIAS. Then the current is coming from the output and the PMEG6010CEGWX should be good enough as long as your input voltage is not going above 50V. Please keep spikes in mind.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
