LM5160-Q1: Power dissipation calculate

Hi Team,

This part datasheet mentioned the Tj = Ta x (RθJC(top) x P)

and follow the link for thermal information to see this method is hard to get the real value.

So we can used the Tj = Tc x (ψJT x P)  , right ?

Or , if you have any better idea in here, please give us some feedback to learn. Thanks!

  • Hi Chao Fu,

    you can use Webench to estimate the Tj before you build the prototype board.

    If the board is ready and workable, then measure Tc, and calculate Tj with Tj = Tc x (ψJT x P), P is IC power loss, not circuit conversion loss.
