TPS54060: :

Part Number: TPS54060
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS5410

Good morning,

I was checking the overload behavior of the TPS54060 by connecting an external electronic load to the output capacitors of TPS54060 in my circuitry.

Input supply range from 18-26.4V (Typical 24V) and expected output is 5V.

When my external load is around 0.9A I still see the output is around 4.8 to 4.88.

When the load is a bit more, output voltage goes down to 2.5V and if I increase more there is a state before short circuit protection kicks in, I see strange behaviors from the circuit like a short occurs and gone, short occurs and gone.

After the load is above 0.93A, I see the short circuit protection kicks in and I see the attached figure in the scope.

My question-> why do I see what I call as strange behaviors just before short circuit protection kicks in? Am I missing something?

Please let me know if you need more information about the circuitry. It is designed for 400mA load and expected switching freq. is somewhere in between 434 to 442 kHz.

Thank you very much in advance

Best Regards

Onur
