TPS65137AS: Inquiry about negative voltage setting

Part Number: TPS65137AS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65137AEVM-366

Hello Expert,

I want to clarify to set change of negative voltage and ask about TPS65137AEVM-366.

When I understand and check the data sheet like below waveform.

The sequence is first enable (CTRL first High) and then default out (-4.9V) and then I can change negative value.

Is it possible to change negative value after only default out?

Is it right?

Second,

The sequence is first enable (CTRL first High) and then I can change negative value before default out (-4.9V) within 10ms after CTRL High and then my changed value is out.

Is it possible to change negative voltage at red box period like below?

About TPS65137AEVM-366,

Is there included USB Interface Adapter in EVK like below red box?

BR,

Michael

  • Hello Michael,

It is correct that the device will put out the default negative voltage first but, instead of waiting for the default voltage to ramp first before starting to program the new negative voltage setting, programming of the new negative voltage setting can be done within the red box area you show in your post. If you program the negative voltage setting within the red box area, the device will output the default negative voltage of -4.9V briefly but then right away will start ramping to the already programmed new voltage setting.

USB adapter is included in the EVM kit.

    Kind Regards,

  • Hello Liaqat,

    Thanks for your feedback.

But, I want to clarity about negative out which is my new set voltage instead of default output.

If I set new negative voltage (ex, -2.4V, all program was completed included Tstore + Tset) within Tscp time after Tinit time, my set negative voltage -2.4V will be out after Tstore + Tset time before default -4.9V output.

    Is it right?

Anyway, Our customer want to see their new negative voltage before default output.

Because if default voltage will be out before their set voltage output, they are concern that their target device will be damaged.

    BR,

    Michael

  • Hello Michael,

As explained in my earlier response, if all programming for new -2.4V is completed within the tscp period, the default voltage of -4.9V will briefly appear at the output but the converter will right away start ramp to -2.4V programmed voltage. So in summary, the default voltage will briefly appear at the output before new set voltage is achieved.

    Kind Regards,

    Liaqat
