Hello,

We are using the BQ40Z80 (Rev TI 118 AK5X) fuel gauge on our custom boards, but are having problems communicating with the chip over SMBus using both the TI MSP430 programmer as well as the BQ40Z80EVM. We are observing the SMBD data line seems to have corrupted data (see attached waveforms). Any suggestions to resolve this, or does this indicate a chip failure? We can privately share our board schematics as well.

Hello Rohit,

Can you share the schematic and layout? Are there any traces near the communication lines that could be coupling into them? This doesn't look like a gauge issue as much as a hardware or driver problem. When you communicate with the EV2400 does this still occur?
