LM61495-Q1: once the short occurs, how long will be the regulator will be suppling output current

Part Number: LM61495-Q1

We are using LM61495QRPHRQ1 in our design

We would like to know how long the short circuit current will flow in the output section

1. as per dataheet image given below, if the short is removed with in wait time of hiccup the regulator will resume. if short is not removed what will happen

2. what is the time delay between the short and the regulator shut down. with hiccup

as per the details given above 128 consecutive switching cycle is that the frequency of regulator. we have designed it for 400kHz. can you please confirm on the wait time hiccup occurrence.

  • Hi,

Per datasheet specs, the short circuit wait time ("hiccup" time) is roughly 40ms typical.

For more details on this Section 8.3.13 Hiccup details the operation.

The current is not entirely off during the hiccup mode. As such it can be seen that the device tries to restart up again as shown with the induct current bursts.

Once the short circuit is removed and the part regulates back to intended output voltage, the device will begin pulling steady current.

    Regards,

    Jimmy
