BQ25619E: System voltage with battery and without VBUS

Part Number: BQ25619E

Reading BQ25619E datsheet I didn't understand which is the behaviour of system voltage when nop ower is present on Vbus pin but there is a battery charged connected at VBAT pin. In this situation the Power Path Management connects system to battery with BATFET but it is not clear which will be the voltage on sys pin. I presume that in this situation the system voltage will be the battery voltage less the VDS of the BATFET, is it true? If this assumption is correct I would like to know which is the meaning of the system minimun voltage setting (SYS_MIN) when the IC will operate in this situation. For example, in this situation (no power present on Vbus) with VSYS_MIN=3.5V (default) and with battery voltage to 3.3V, the system voltage will be 3.3-VDS(BATFET)?

Many Thanks in advance for your clarification.

Best Regards

Francesco

  • Francesco,

9.3.4.1 Narrow Voltage DC (NVDC) Architecture only applies when valid VBUS is present. In supplement mode with valid battery only, VSYS_MIN does not apply and VSYS follows VBAT with the BATFET voltage drop.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
