TPS7A7200: TPS7A7200RGTR Replacing TPS7A7100RGTR

Part Number: TPS7A7200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A7100,

Hello,

Is the TPS7A7200RGTR just a 2A version of the TPS7A7100RGTR? Can the TPS7A7200RGTR be used interchangeably with the TPS7A7100RGTR layout of the as well? Are there any notable features or concerns of using the TPS7A7200RGTR?

Thank you,

Kyle

  • Also, can you confirm the Iq for both devices?

    Thank you,

    Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,

That's correct - they use the same die besides having a different current limit, and the packages and pinouts are identical so TPS7A7200RGTR will work for the TPS7A7100RGTR layout.

The important thing to understand is that, since the devices are tested to different specifications (e.g. max dropout voltage at max load), there exists the possibility that a particular device meets the EC table specification for TPS7A7200 (since it has the wider specified range) but not for TPS7A7100. This would be considered a corner case and is very unlikely, but not impossible. Other than that, the devices will behave basically the same.

We do not have Iq data for these devices. Iq is just IGND at zero load, so the IOUT = 25mA spec for IGND sets a bound above that which would be seen if Iq was measured at zero load (IGND increases with increasing load).

    Regards,

    Nick
