BQ25730: Can BQ25730 be used instead of BQ25731?

Hello guys,

One of my customers was going to use BQ25731 for the mass-production of their new products.

But they knew that the device can't be delivered by the dead time for the mass-production due to recent long lead time issue.

So they think to use BQ25730 instead of BQ25731.

At this moment, they have the following questions. Could you please give me your reply for them?

Q1. Can BQ25730 be used instead of BQ25731? They don't need VSYS power supply.

Q2. If your answer to Q1 is yes, Is it no problem to leave "BATDRV" terminal open?

Although both parts are functional similar, there are a few register setting differences. The default EN_LDO is on for BQ25730, while off for BQ25731. The default charge current is 256mA for BQ25731, while zero for BQ25730. It is not recommended to replace BQ25731 with BQ25730.

Is it no problem to replace BQ25731 with BQ25730

if all registers are set to the same values which the customer writes to BQ25731 when BQ25730 is started up?

If BQ25730 can be used instead of BQ25731 with all resisters setting at starting up,

is it no problem to leave "BATDRV" terminal open?

If you can change the BQ25730 setting to match BQ25731, you should be able to use BQ25730 as a replacement. It is Okay to leave BATDRV terminal open.
