TPS61161: Why the LED current per channel is 20mA?

Part Number: TPS61161

Hi experts,

TPS61161 current limit is 700mA but there are description that LED current per channel is 20mA in product folder in TI.com

Is there other ristriction than limitation of N-ch MOSFET current limit?

Best regards,

Hideki

The 700mA current limit  refers to the peak current that can reach for the integrated switch Fet. In normal operation, we will work in lower switching current to prevent the FET from damage. Based on this and other thermal considerations, the recommended LED current per channel is 20mA.
