BQ24192: Adjusting charge current in GUI not working

Hi team,

Can you have a look at the following customer inquiry?

We were able to successfully complete the learning cycle for the application battery on the VitaGuard project where we are using the devices listed above.
The charging we have found is set to 1.5A by default. We wanted to change this value, but according to bqstudio, register 02 is set like this:

But according to the documentation this register is where the charging current should be set. Can you please tell us why we can not adjust anything here?

It is not the right GUI. Please visit https://www.ti.com/product/BQ24190#software-development and download SLUC391A.ZIP. Please visit the EVM user's guide at bq24190/2/2i/3/6 and bq24292i EVM (PWR021) (Rev. C) for the details.

Hello Ning,

Thank you for providing correct information regarding the GUI. Now we have another problem related to charger register. We have used HPA 172 USB interface adapter along with BQ2419XEVM-GUI v1.5.0.1 software to configure charger register. For example, I have set ICHG= 2048mA and then write this data to charger in BQ2419XEVM software but when I open BQ studio, charger registers are not updated. They remain as default (example:- Chrgr_Reg2).

How to adapt charger register setting in BQ Studio?

Also we observed that, after removing power supply from charger(BQ2419XEVM-GUI v1.5.0.1) the data which we have updated were lost. So the charger stores all the data in volatile memory? Is it correct? In our case Gas gauge is controling the charger, we don't have seperate host to control the charger. So is it possible to control charger using BQ studio?

You can't use BQStudio. Are you using the BQ2419X GUI shown as below?

Yes I switched to BQ studio because we want gauge to control a charger.

Janhavi,

HPA 172 does not support BQStudio. You have to use EV2300/EV2400 instead in order to communicate with BQStudio.
