TPS61288: What if the Booster Input voltage is grater then output voltage

Hello TI,

We are designing Boost and buck dc to dc converter.

we have few question,

1. If i configure(Design) boost convertor for input-8.4V/5A to output 12V/2.5A, In some condition if the input voltage goes beyond the 12V suppose its should be 15V then what is my output voltage TPS61288 or is it damage ..?

2. Same for buck converter if i configure (Design) Buck converter for input 5.4V/5A to output 5V/4A, If the voltage goes below the 5V, there is possibility drop down to 4.5V what is my output voltage TPS566231 or is it damage..?

Hi Rahul,

For TPS61288, the output voltage will be input voltage minus voltage drop of high side MOS if Vin>Vout.

I will transfer Buck question to MV team.

Means ,TPS61288 can able to handle the Vin>Vout, correct..?

Hi Rahul,

No, the output voltage is not controlled is Vin>Vout. It could be 14V when input voltage is 15V.
