TPS65100: Power shut off when probed with multimeter

Part Number: TPS65100

Hi:

I'm trouble shooting a circuit of TPS65100, the schematic is below, it's pretty much the same as the eval board except a few part values. The circuit works fine when I power it on. However, the output turns off as long as I use the multimeter probing the output voltage. If the probe is connected output through a wire, the output seems stable. It looks like only shut off when I probed the output after it's powered on. Is there anything wrong with the output capacitor or the inductor needs higher value?

thanks in advance

  • Hello,

I reviewed your schematics and it mostly looks good but I have few comments and some of them can potentially be causing the issue.

    - Since you are not using the LDO controller, I suggest to tie ENR pin to GND instead of pulling it up to Vin.

    - Recommended compensation for 3.3V input supply voltage is R322=15K ohm. Capacitor is recommended to be 2.2nF which is already correct.

    - Boost inductor is recommended to be 4.7uH and that is how EVM was validated so I would suggest to change that.

Rest of the schematics looks good.

    Kind Regards,

    Liaqat
