Hello,

I am using Bq34z110 for monitoring Lead-acid 12V battery. I have designed board as per given in the datasheet .

I am using Arduino BQ34z100 Master Library. I2C communication is working fine .

I have checked All registers values are correct or not, still I am getting wrong readings except voltage reading .

Please Suggest me solution for this issue.

Please suggest me check points also.

Hello Deoyani,

I2C has acknowledge built into the protocol, so it is unlikely that all values are wrong. I recommend that you check if your I2C implementation recognises Nacks and reports all possible errors. Make sure that the correct device is being addressed.

Thank you for your response .

I have checked I2C communication is working or not. It is working correctly.

Can you suggest me other checkpoints. I am getting correct voltage reading I am getting wrong reading of State of charge, current etc.

Hello Deoyani,

I suggest that you use bqStudio to read out the values and compare the I2C data. It should be the same.

I haven't found bq34z110 device in bqStudio . I am downloading latest version of bqstudio and searching for bq34z110.

I don't have EVM2400 adapter I have designed the bq34z110 board as per given in the datasheet on Zero PCB board.

Hello Deoyani,

All gauges have undergone testing and therefore getting wrong values from the gauge by communication is not possible. The problem is likely in hardware, or the software of the host system.

You can look at the communication using capture devices or on an oscilloscope by repeating the transaction that is reporting wrong results.

I checked bqStudio and you are right that the bq34z110 is not supported. bqStudio supports bq34110.

bq34z110 uses bqEVSW which is available on its product page https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sluc407

bqEVSW/bqStudio and the EV2300/EV2400 are the reference for development. Comparison with waveforms is the easiest way to troubleshoot.

Hello Deoyani,

Unused pins will need to be connected as recommended in datasheet. The schematic depends on the features that will be used.
