BQ76940: BQ76940 xREADY fault in EMC test

Part Number: BQ76940

Hi all,

My customer encountered a rare problem when using bq76940.

1. Bq76940 can work normally under normal working conditions;

2. When EMC testing is carried out in China, sometimes bq76940 will have a ready fault;

3. When conducting EMC test abroad, bq76940 often has xREADY fault, and can work normally after leaving EMC test environment;

In previous questions, some colleagues mentioned that the strong magnetic field environment may interfere with the power pin or TSN pin, resulting in an error.

Are there any documents or posts with such problems that you can share?

  • Hi Sanders,

    I don't know of other documents or posts.  The common reference for EMI in battery pack electronics is www.ti.com/lit/slua368 , it was written with an earlier product family, but the principles still apply.

    Common with other electronics you generally want to filter signals as they come into the board and provide a low impedance at the input to a diode so that a noise signal is not rectified into a apparent real signal. Route signals so that any input reaches the input filter capacitors before the IC pins.
