BQ27546-G1: BQ27546-G1 to monitor a button cell

Part Number: BQ27546-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ35100

Hi,

I am working on a PCB that is powered by a button cell. The button cell is the following one:

es.rs-online.com/.../

I want to use the IC BQ27546-G1 to monitor this cell. Is it possible? I have seen other options such as BQ35100 that are made for this type of applications, but the area in this PCB is small and limited.

Thanks!

  • Hello Javier,

The BQ27546 is not designed to gauge primary batteries, the BQ35100 is the only gauge that is designed for this chemistry. It doesn't look like we have a chem ID for this battery specifically, but due to it's small capacity it will also make it more challenging to gauge.

You may be able to use the coulomb counter on the gauge, or the ADCs, but not the actual gauging algorithm.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
