Hello,

I hope it was possible to gain more insight on the highlighted circuit in the bq25713 EVM. Can TI provide the vulnerabilities a system would have if this circuit was not included in a design?

    Hi Kevin,

    That part of the design is to prevent inrush current and can be broken down into 2 parts.

    1.

    This is the soft start part.

    2. 

    This part enables the soft start based on the CHRG_OK signal. Otherwise, the FETs would never turn on.



    I would recommend running a SPICE simulation first with the first part, then slowly incorporate the second part. This part of the design is not necessary for the charger itself to work.
