TPS2662: Current after output cutoff

Part Number: TPS2662

CH1(Yellow) : Input+5V

CH2(Green) : Output+5V

CH3(Blue) : FLT

CH4(Red) : Output Current

Use TPS26620 Design Calculator

 VIN=5V、ILIM=0.3A、t(dVdV)=1.1ms

When a current of 2A is loaded, the output is cut off due to overcurrent, but even though the output voltage is 0V, the current remains about 0.3A.

Eventually, the current is also cut off. Is this possible?

I'm also using another eFUSE: TPS26601, but that doesn't happen.

  • hi,

    Welcome to E2E!

    TPS2662 does current limiting during overload event for an interval of tCL(dly) or till thermal shutdown, whichever happens early. The overload response for TPS26601 is different. TPS26601 allows overcurrent for 4ms before it completely breaks the path (circuit breaker funtion)

  • thank you for your reply.

    I understand that it will be a current limit.

    However, even though the output voltage is 0V, the current is flowing due to the current limit.

    Where is the current flowing from?

  • Hi,

    Current depends on the current limit setting and is coming from the input side through the device. It will flow even if Vout is at 0V
