Hi, support team

My customer has the questions as follow:

1. Could BQ25960 or BQ25968 be used alone without the main charging IC?

2. I'm developing portable instruments, lithium battery power supply, USB port charging.
I hope that the charging IC with high integration which can be integrated with the power path, step-down charging, fuel gauging and battery protection.
Can you provide several ICs or design schemes?

    1. Could BQ25960 or BQ25968 be used alone without the main charging IC?

    The BQ25960 and BQ25968 cannot be used alone since they do not support charging for pre-charging and termination charging. Pre-charging occurs when the cell voltage is too low for high-current charging, so it must be charged slowly until it is able to be charged normally. Termination charging occurs when cell voltage is close to regulation voltage, so charging is reduced to prevent overcharging which can be potentially dangerous. Both of these modes must be handled by a main charger.
