TPS51200-EP: vs TPS51200A-Q1 vs TPS51200-Q1 vs TPS51200: same die?

Part Number: TPS51200-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS51200-Q1, TPS51200, , TPS51200A-Q1

Hello,

We plan to qualify the TPS51200-EP with for our applications. However, due to components shortage, we may qualify another part (TPS51200, TPS51200-Q1 or TPS51200A-Q1). If they all use the same die, our qualification will be valid for all these part numbers.

I have found on the E2E forum that the difference between the TPS51200-Q1 and TPS51200A-Q1 is only a polyimide layer (e2e.ti.com/.../tps51200a-q1-the-difference-between-tps51200a-q1-and-tps51200-q1. Therefore, I conclude that the TPS51200-Q1 and TPS51200A-Q1 have the same die.

Could you tell me if the TPS51200, TPS51200-Q1, TPS51200A-Q1 and TPS51200-EP all have exactly the same silicon die (same silicon process, same maskset etc)? Since their electrical performances is identical (based on their datasheet), I guess that yes.

If this information is confidential, we could also discuss by email.

Thank you for your help,

Thomas

  • Thomas,

I have found on this thread that the TPS51200 and the TPS51200-Q1 have the same die. Per the thread you linked, the TPS51200-Q1 and the TPS51200A-Q1 are the same die, with the A version having an added polyimide layer for improved reliability. Per this thread, the fundamental difference between the TPS51200 and the TPS51200-EP is that the -EP version is rated for a wider temperature range, otherwise the electrical characteristics are the same.

The only one that may technically not be the exact same die would be the -EP version - let me see if I can find out more about this and get back to you as soon as possible.

    Thanks,

    Kadeem

  • Hello Kadeem,

thank you for this first reply and for checking for the -EP version.

  • Thomas,

I did some digging and believe that I have the answer that you are looking for.

While these devices are electrically similar, the TPS51200-Q1 and the TPS51200A-Q1 are the only two that share the same die. The TPS51200 and TPS51200-EP are both different.

Again, the functionality is incredibly similar between these devices.

    Thanks,

    Kadeem
