UCC27524: Are there any requirements for EN and VDD relationship?

Part Number: UCC27524

Customer would like to understand whether there are any requirements EN and VDD relationship. Can they use higher voltage for EN than VDD? Surely both EN and VDD are within 18V.

Could you please help check it? Thank you.

  • Hello Aki,

They can use an enable higher than VDD. See point 4 in section 7.1:

Also see this internal diagram of the part:

This is a basic diagram of the internal structure. As long as enable/inputs passes the threshold described in the datasheet (2.3V max at 12V VDD) then it registers as a high for the AND gate and will function normally. An enable higher than VDD will cause some current to flow into the VDD pin, but only a very small amount due to the large pullup resistor.

    thanks,

    Alex M.

  • Alex,

Thank you for the great explanation!
