MC33063A: The 0.33OHM resistor damage issue

Part Number: MC33063A

Hi team

Our customer is using MC33063A as step-down regulator(24Vin, 5V 150mA out), and they are using 0.33ohm with 0805 package(0.125W) for Ipk sense. The power consumption should be OK for 0805, but they found that this resistor will damage in some case, like 100 pieces per 500ku. Do you have similar case or any insight for this? Thanks!

  • Hi ,

We have not encountered a similar situation, but the following situations can be check:

    1) Check the production process if the Resistance is subject to mechanical stress, which may affect the reliability of the Resistance.

2)Check the operating status of the power supply to confirm whether there is a transient over-power phenomenon.
