BQ25616JEVM: Discharge current timing Q4 of charger IC

Part Number: BQ25616JEVM

Dear Support team!

The charger IC BQ25616J monitors the discharge current through the BATFET Q4. When there is an overload or short the BATFET will turn off.

My questions are:

1. What is the minimum and typical time the defined “ISYS_OCP_Q4” current (min. 9A / typ. 10A) has to occur until Q4 will latch off? I could not find such a timing in the datasheet.

2. Or can an energy be provided?

3. What is the typical Rds_on of Q4 BATFET.

Thank you very much.

Best regards

  • Hi,

    working on it.

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Dear Ning,

thank you for the status update.

Please kindly check also these two additional questions from below:

    4. Chapter 9.3.9.5.3 "System Over-Current Protection" of the datasheet mentions that if charger latches Q4 off the device is in ship mode. Which methods are available to exit ship mode? Input source plug-in is one option but which others are valid?

    5. "ISYS_OCP_Q4" defines battery discharge current clamp on BATFET Q4 in Boost mode. Flex circuitry has Boost mode disabled. Are these defined current clamp values on page 12 of datasheet also valid in normal mode (non-boost mode)?

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards

    Gerhard

  • Gerhard,

This inquiry is being supported via separate channel. The e2e thread is considered solved and closed.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
