BQ40Z50: BQ40Z50 enter ROM mode and offline programming

Hi team,

My customer encountered a issue when they offline programming their BQ40Z50. They used 0X44 00 0F to enter ROM mode but they didn't get ACK.

However if they used 0X44 02 00 0F they can enter the ROM mode successfully.(02 is byte number). So there is the only command which we need to add the byte number or some of the other commands need this?

Besides, they find they encountered some NACK during programming. So what can we advice them during the programming process? Maybe reduce the communication speed?

Hello Steven,

I would recommend using a logic analyzer with EV2400 and BqStudio to see standard communication. I2C and SMBus do not use the same protocol, you need to send the byte count after the 0x44 commands for SMBus.

If they are using flash stream files for programming, which is our recommended method, they can follow the Gauge Communication app note (SLUA801).
