LP8764-Q1: Differential voltage sensing from point of the load

Part Number: LP8764-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP87644Q1EVM

Dear Support,

The LP8764-Q1 specification makes references to "Differential voltage sensing from point of the load"

Please advise how to do it?

Thanks,

Lauri

  • Hi Lauri,

In multiphase configuration the feedback of the first secondary buck, either buck 2 or buck 4, should be used to sense the GND side of the load (FBN).

For example, if taking a look at the LP87644Q1EVM User's Guide Figure 5-1. in 2+2 phase configuration R1, R2, R4 and R6 are populated of the feedback resistors. Primary bucks feedbacks are connected to the positive side of the loads (R1 and R4) whereas the feedbacks of the secondary bucks 2 and 4 are connected to the GND side of the loads (R2 and R6).

    Best regards,

    Samuli Piispanen

  • Dear Samuli,

I am interested in Phase config 3 (2+1+1). Would you be able to provide a working NVRAM Configuration with PFSM *.json template file for it?

    Thanks,

    Lauri

  • Hei Lauri,

We don't have a NVM for that phase configuration available yet. The plan is to have template NVMs available for every phase configuration later but unfortunately I don't have an ETA for that.

    Best regards,

    Samuli
