LM62440-Q1: Why does it have CBOOT and RBOOT pin separately?

Part Number: LM62440-Q1

Hi team,

Why does LM62440-Q1 have CBOOT and RBOOT pin separately? Another DCDC converter such as LM50410-Q1 just have "CB" pin.

Could we add boot strap resistor in series to boot strap capacitor in general? Or is there any benefit to make a separate loop for bootstrap capacitor and bootstrap resistor shown in LM62440-Q1 datasheet "Figure 9-14. Simplified Circuit Showing How RBOOT Functions"?

Regards,
Ochi

  • Hello Ochi-san,

We have an extra pin to allow for a wider range of RBOOT values and not impact the drive voltage level and boot re-charging.

This is a good feature and should be used instead of just placing a series resistor with the boot capacitor (as seen in other devices).

    Regards,
