LM74700-Q1: In Regulated Conduction Mode, will the charge pump noise be blocked out from the gate pin

Part Number: LM74700-Q1

Hi

two questions

1. In Regulated Conduction Mode, will the charge pump noise be blocked out from the gate pin ?

2. what is the purpose to add a small resistor at gate pin, is it for damping the charge pump noise when operate at full conduction mode ?

  • Hi,

    Please see my response below,

    1. We expect gate pin to induce more noise in full conduction mode compared to regulation mode because of the fact that we connect VCAP voltage to VGATE when in full conduction mode. In regulation mode the charge pump noise will be attenuated (but not completely) at Gate.

    2. Yes, we generally recommend adding a resistance (10 ohms) in series on the Gate signal to damp the charge pump noise coupling through FET Vgs to input when operated at full conduction mode
